I am one day away from lying on a sandy beach with rum in my hand and sea salt in my hair. Given the ever-growing list of things I need to get done, and my excellent ability at finding ways to distract myself from the tasks at hand, I’m a little stressed. So today instead of several lines of witty prose, I’m just going to give you the outfit details and slowly back away. Maybe just maybe I’ll finish my laundry, close out the items on my work to do list and somehow squeeze a pedicure in.

Sometimes you are given the opportunity to do more than just shine, you’re given the ability to full on neon on sign glow. Today was one of those days. See, I saw this camouflage jacket and I could have been subtle. I could have paired it with a theme tee and jeans. But there on the rack, the little copper stunner spoke to me. It said, “Anna , be bold.”
And I listened. When fashion speaks to me, I keep these ears piqued. I soak in all the free inspiration. And then next thing I new I was digging in my closet for my old faithful blue velvet booties.
The result is a whole lot of look. But, can we take a second to marvel at how awesome that look is? I look like a plus size fly girl and if In Living Color was still a thing I would be shimming my way onto your regular evening programming. I feel like often fashion speaks to us and we refuse to listen, because it’s too loud, too bold, too unusual. Because the world tells us that being different and standing out are bad things. Blend, everybody blend.
I decided some many moons ago that I was never going to blend well, so I might as well stick out like a sore thumb and just own it. So here I am metallic, sequined, and lifted on velvet raising one hand high in the air and dropping one booty low dancing it out to the joy that is being the weirdo you are and owning it. And dangit, I look good!

So I kind of decided this week all my future jackets will be faux fur, because wearing them is like wearing a cloak of teddy bear love. I actually loved them so much that for the last look I got stuck between two vests, before choosing one for the look book. So I’ve decided to provide a little round up of all the affordable plus size faux furs I got my beady eyes on. Because like Pokemon I want them, I want them all.
As an FYI, both furs I am wearing here are shown in the options below. Most of the below furs cost $75 or less, some are as cheap as $15! There is 100% an option for every fashion obsessed lady killer at every budget!

Up where they walk, up where they run, up where they stay all day in the sun.
Wandering free, wish I could be, part of that world
I think Ariel was talking about Hawaii in that song. Well that what I think when I’ve been singing it while prepping for this look. When I was a kid I got really into Beanie Babies. Like REALLY into them. I bought and sold those suckers like they were high ticket stocks. Buy! Buy! Sell! Sell! I actually made so much money that I was able to cash out early and pay for exchange trips to Brasil and Finland. I come from a long line of weirdly obsessed collectors. It’s a thing. My mom was way into collecting pretty much anything that was collectible. Our house was like a museum and spent most of my childhood fear I might break pretty much anything I touched. I suppose that one of the reasons I relate to Ariel so much. We’re both collectors. But the connection runs deeper, we’re both women forging our own paths against what our respective cultures tells us is status quo. Ariel is the Disney bad ass and I am here IRL blonde counterpart.
I took a little liberty with Ariel’s look because I feel like it’s what she would have wanted, if you know she was actually real. I am wearing a metallic “Shell Yeah” imprinted tank purchased from asos, paired with a sea foam green stretchy pencil skirt from Amazon. Underneath I am beach ready with an amazing jelly fish print bikini from Swimsuits for All. For accessories I rocked a metallic clam necklace I picked up here in Hawaii, a pair of super comfy sneaker style flats from Target’s collaboration with Sam & Libby, retro inspired white shades from Charlotte Russe, a five below beach tote and a sea urchin looking hair accessory I purchased somewhere in the dark depths of the internet.
For make up I kept it super simple. I dotted the face with some sunscreen because I am preventing a future of leather face. I let my sunglasses carry my attitude and added a pop of pink on the lip to as a nod to Ariel’s rosy lips. For my hair I rocked her signature side hair part with straight hair. I used my “sea urchin” barrette to sweep my bangs out of my face and up my sex appeal. Turns out wearing a flower on the right side in Hawaii is a public announcement you are single and ready to mingle. So I wore it there, because I am.
Overall the look was sassy and fun and oh so mermaid with an issue following society’s orders. Also this photo is the closest I will ever come to a wet t-shirt contest. Enjoy it. I look good.
